Review :

Aside from director Michael Anderson, the credits promise little, and alas that's what the film delivers.

Like a few other British quota quickies I could mention, this film starts quite promisingly. After the courtroom acquittal of the heroine, there immediately follows a shattering scene in which the girl admits to her lover that the verdict was wrong. She really was guilty of murdering her husband! Unfortunately, at this dramatic point, the plot goes into reverse into a tedious, over-talkative, no-action flashback. None of the players are able to flesh out their stereotyped characters into people that we can believe in. Technical credits are no than adequate and production values minimal. True, director Michael Anderson (who later did "Around the World in 80 Days") does contrive a few effective deep-focus compositions. But the stilted dialogue, the corny plot and its inadequate players defeat his few attempts to lift the bulk of this film even into the barely watchable category.
