A fictitious Musical Autobiogrpahy of Offenbach.

Yes,this good french musical ,of 1950, was a fictitious autobiography of Jacques Offenbach,played by Pierre Freshnay and his Protégé Hortense Schneider,boy what a name of a french actress,played by Yvonne Printemps.It's about how Schneider gets in to the french theater and become a big star.Unlike the real Hortense,this factitious one is a opportunist and a social climber.I read the real Hortense short autobiography and the real one was the opposites.To get into be introduce to Offenbach,she seduces one of the actors,If this was made in the united states ,the production code would not allow showing of the suggestion .The actor Berthieller,portrayed by Jacques Charon. to introduce her to Offenbach to be in one of his musicals.Either Offenbach is in debt or he moving to anew office ,showing the moving men taking the furniture away ,in his office,Bert tries to tell Offenbach about her.It isn't until Offenbach meets her in the park and she sings one of his songs that he considers an Audition.Boom! she gets the lead in his next musical.If this was only that easy.But as her fame gets better she dumps Bert for Hose,played by Robert Manuel.Until she meets Le Duc Demorney ,played by Jacques Castelot,something doesn't go right ,that I don't understand, She dumps Hose.She goes back to Offenbach for a new play and decides to get back together with Bert,who still poor.She gets bigger that she perform for Napoleon the third ,portrayed by Lucien Nat, and Empress Eugenie,portray by Raymonde Allain.Eventually she gets together with General DaniCheff portrayed by Pierre Dux,whom he and Offenbach has an Argumant about her and it turns into a duel.She then dumps the General for The Calif De Ramsoun,who speaks no English.Then Offenbach confront her by facing all her ex boyfriend she used.It end with a rehearsing of another play.This film did not show the French can can that Offenbach created Orpheus in the Under world or any scene from his famous tales of Hoffman.This probably could not have been made in Occupied France ,since Offenbach was Jewish, 07/12/13
